Enjoying Nevis

The Queen of the Caribbean.

Lovers Beach, Nevis

For decades Nevis has been the secret and lost paradise of the Caribbean, a refuge for many celebrities and artists wishing to relax in the quiet and peaceful surroundings. Bespoke beach bars, and historic hotels adorn the 30 square miles of the island, creating a surreal experience of stepping back in time by 50 years. It would not be uncommon to see a donkey being ridden into the town, or a monkey sitting at a bar.

01 Adventure and relaxation await.

The dormant volcano which makes up the island, offers many different hikes for beginners to the advanced. Hiking trails to the waterfalls takes you within the rainforest and it is suggested to bring a swimsuit to fully enjoy the cool pools and waterfalls fully. To venture further will take hikers to the very source of the water on the island, with the ability to drink straight from the very source. For the advanced hikers and those daredevils, the Nevis peak trail includes rock climbing and fabulous 360 degree view of the island and those neighbouring.

Nevis has one of the few certified turtle sanctuaries in the Caribbean, the infamous Lover’s Beach (shown above) is a haven to leatherback sea turtles and more. During the early hours of the morning visitors can view turtles hatching or laying eggs. The sandy beaches cover the shores of the island for the whole distance, with flat and calm waters for the perfect sunset or towards the Atlantic side with the white capped seas for kitesurfing and surfing.

Nevis has attracted the luxury market since before 1991 when the Four Seasons Resort started development on residential living and a 165-room hotel. Now sprawling 350 acres on ocean front and mountain land, it is one of the top coveted neighbourhoods on the islands.

The activities on Nevis are truly endless, with options for every taste. Horseback riding on the beach during sunrise or sunset, including swimming with the horses in the ocean is a highly popular way to spend some quality time with your loved ones, and makes for some excellent photos!

The beaches towards the Atlantic side where the Tradewinds meet are a famous location for kite surfers world wide, as the shallow waters and breaking waves create the ideal conditions for all levels of experience. For those who may wish to watch from the shore, the different colours of the kite light up the ocean and make for a fantastic Sunday afternoon.

The Caribbean Sea makes for excellent deep sea fishing, with fish such as wahoo, swordfish, marlin and tuna being caught on a regular basis. Many boats and captains are ready willing and able to take guests on this experience, with the guest taking home their own fish at the end of the day. Giant squid is also able to be fished a little ways off shore, ensuring fresh calamari for all who partake.
